We want XP- Dell Buyers

Over the weekend I have come across a couple of news items about the move of Dell to ‘resurrect’ Windows XP because of costumer demand. I must admit I was a little surprised but not totally puzzled by this news, in my previous post, I have told you guys that M$ is trying its best to kill XP by setting a due date for the end of distribution of XP licenses, Why? Mainly because, users do not seem to accept Vista as expected by the folks in Redmond.

I also found an article in BBC that quoted an analyst saying “This is really odd… On new PCs, consumers usually do want the latest and greatest” Now, Vista IS the LATEST but to refer to it as “the greatest” is somewhat to early to do. I think this is one of the reasons why Dell Users did not want Vista with their PC. Here’s a list of Probable reasons why PC users do not like Vista:

1. It’s totally new, and therefore it would take them awhile to master the commands and features of the new OS

2. It’s expensive, yeah it is and most of the time this is one of the first things that common PC users think about when they are looking into purchasing a new PC.

3. Vista is a resource hog, we all know that Vista ‘takes advantage of the power of the modern PCs in the market’ sadly, most of the common PC users do not have a Modern PC, nor does Dell have cheap Modern PCs in the their product line, so, the result, most common users would opt to choose XP over Vista because they’re afraid that Vista would just slow their work down.

4. Most of the PC users today have learned their lessons with Win ME and the first previous versions of XP, We all know that these Operation systems were also once called as “the greatest” by the Redmond Gang and everybody believed them. This time, PC users are just Skeptical and Smart.

So, what does the Redmond Company think of Dell’s move? Well, according to BBC NEWS “In response Microsoft said that Dell was responding to a "small minority" of customers who had a very "specific" request.” I don’t think there’s something wrong about responding to what your costumers are saying and demanding, it’s business 101 folks, these are the same people who are giving you profit, if they think that one product is better than the other, then give them that and if otherwise, just go with what they want. It’s that simple.

I congratulate the Dell People for responding to what their costumers want; the Dell people had the balls to actually fight for what their costumers wanted.

As a final message I would like to say that any company that listens and not just hears their costumer’s demands is definitely a company worth emulating… I hope the M$ gang would also listen to US the common PC users. End.
